North Dinajpur's 1st Direct IPS Officer Dr. Hossain Mehedi Rehman Dr. Hossain Mehedi Rehman has become Uttar Dinajpur District's first (Direct) IPS Officer and now posted as Assistant Commissioner of Police at Barrackpore Police Commissionerate. Dr. Rehman hails from a remote village of Kaliyaganj Block, Nihali Para under Dhankoil Gram Panchayat. 

His father retired high school teacher Majibur Rahaman today said to nblive, at the age of only 6 yrs sent to st. Anthony's High School, Kurseong. Later he went to Aligarh Muslim University. There after completing +2 course, he cleared Pre Medical Examination and completed MBBS. Afterwards he joined Post Graduation Course in Medical science from Lucknow.

ACP Hossain Mehedi Rehman, said to us that his father is his inspiration and he loved to serve the community as Police Officer and thus sat for IAS Examination in the year 2015 and cleared the same with rank of 535. Soon he joined Indian Police Service and opted for Bengal Cadre.

When asked for his message for the students of the district, he clearly said "Think Big, nothing is impossible". He said "nowadays most of the youths and students are preparing to be High School and Primary School Teacher, but there are so many job opportunities, if all become teachers, then who will serve in others jobs?" He clearly said to us that he is and will always be ready to help the students and youths of the district.
